The Workshop will cover theoretical and practical aspects of chemical sensing with an emphasis on e-nose approaches, including the development of sensing technologies, data analysis, sample handling, calibration strategies, as well as current developments in the market and related olfactory-display technologies. The lectures will be given by renowned speakers in the field. Participants are invited to present their own research and discuss with experts in the field.

Targeted participants:

The Workshop will fit anyone interested in chemical sensors, chemical analysis, and odor presentation. The target audience will be PhD students, researchers, technology developers and industrial partners.

Description:

The Workshop will take place at Hakodate Arena, conveniently located just 10 minutes by bus from Hakodate Airport and close to the Yunokawa Onsen area. Participants will stay at the nearby Hanabishi Hotel, a modern ryokan-style accommodation just a 10-minute walk from the venue. The hotel offers traditional hot spring facilities, including scenic garden open-air baths, and serves Japanese cuisine featuring local seafood specialties.

Registration fees cover accommodation, meals, and a social event, which includes a special dinner and a night view tour of Mt. Hakodate. Both lecturers and participants will stay at the same hotel, encouraging interaction and networking throughout the event.

The Workshop will focus on key topics in chemical sensing—such as chemical analysis, electronic noses, and olfactory displays—as well as data processing strategies for developing new technologies and applications. A poster session will be organized for students and other attendees to showcase their current research.
