Exercises and practical demonstrations will deliver unique hands-on experience. \n\n\n\nWho should attend? \n\n\n\nThe Short Course is ideal for anyone with an interest in the use of chemical sensors or biosensors\, including PhD students and early-stage researchers\, technologists\, and industrialists. This Short Course will focus specifically on gas sensing basics and higher order sensing (dynamic operation and e-noses)\, material science and manufacturing\, biosensors\, signal processing and advanced approaches\, calibration and calibration transfer to be considered in order to turn a successful research project into a real-world application. \n\n\n\nThe Short Course will cover theoretical and practical aspects of chemical sensing with a strong focus on real-world applications. Leading companies from the field will join the school and provide insights into industrial needs. \n\n\n\nWe put together a unique and exciting programme that will provide attendees with both theoretical background and practical experience in the above areas. Topics will be delivered by lectures\, discussion\, practical demonstration sessions and hands-on activities. The Short Course will include a panel discussion where participants can discuss with well-known experts from the field in a pleasant and informal atmosphere. \n\n\n\nParticipants will need to bring their own laptops for the practical session. Sample data and software will be supplied. The computations will run on a basic laptop on a windows operating system. \n\n\n\nThe Short Course is residential\, and the programme allows plenty of opportunities for networking with lecturers\, attendees and representatives from industry. Theoretical lectures will start on Monday\, January 18th\, and take place in the morning\, with the afternoon free for participants to network\, consolidate their knowledge while enjoying the outdoors and the skiing. Practical sessions\, exercises\, hands-on demonstrations will be in the early evening\, before dinner. The venue is the superb Hotel Vallechiara\, located directly on the ski slopes\, and the participation fees (to be communicated soon) include accommodation and meals. Participants will receive free ISOCS membership for 2027. Accompanying people are also welcome. The hotel has also a ski school (Anzi Ski School) and a ski rental\, and they will organize ski courses at different levels (from beginners to experts) for the Short Course attendees. \n\n\n\nWe will organize shuttle busses from and to Milano Malpensa airport. Cost and schedule of busses will be confirmed later. \n\n\n\nThere are only a very limited number of single rooms available\, as they will be double rooms for single use. Shared multiple typically consist of 2 bed rooms that share one bathroom. \n\n\n\nRegistration will open soon. \n\n\n\nProgram of the Winter Course 2027 (Preliminary): \n\n\n\nAgenda ISOCS winter school_v4Download
