Symposium Plants and Sensors

Communicating with Plants:

Deciphering and Exploiting Chemical Signals through Electronics

NC State University’s “Stewards of the Future” Symposium, titled “Plants and Sensors,” will be held 2-3 December 2018 at the newly opened StateView Hotel on NC State University’s Centennial Campus in Raleigh, NC, USA. The event will bring together plant scientists and engineers to discuss how plants communicate with their environment and to develop new ideas on how to exploit sensors and electronics to enhance crop production.

Sensing for Smart Anything Everywhere: Materials, Technologies, Applications

Joint Event on Sensing for Smart Anything Everywhere: Materials, Technologies, Applications

25-29 June 2016 – Otranto (Lecce), Italy

Following the interest and the success of 2015 edition of MiNaB-ICT (Micro-Nano-Bio-ICT convergence), in 2016 a Joint event with The International Society on Olfaction and Chemical Sensing (ISOCS) will be organised, focussing the attention on Sensing for the emerging world of “Smart Anything Everywhere”. In this context, Sensors and Smart Systems devices that provide particular intelligent functionality by combining micro/nanoelectronic components with physical, chemical, and biological sensors and actuators on fully integrated systems, will catalyse increasing technology development for a broad range of powerful applications addressing societal challenges.

1st International Workshop on Odor Spaces

Chemical Space - Sensory Space - Perceptual Space - Artificial Olfaction

4-7 September 2013 - Herrenhausen Palace, Hannover, Germany

The sense of smell plays an important role in everyday life, for example in food, beverages, perfume and hygiene. For many animals the sense of smell is their primary sense to experience their world. But still, we have no clear understanding of how odors are perceived.

International Workshop on Dynamical Olfaction, 30 June - 2 July, 2010, Brighton, UK

First call for Abstracts,First call for Abstracts, International Workshop on Dynamical
Olfaction, 30 June - 2 July, 2010, Brighton, UK

Animals are able to experience complexly structured plumes of
different combinations of chemicals as individual olfactory percepts.
It appears that the olfactory system utilizes rich temporal dynamics
to achieve this goal but exactly how is still an open challenge for
